Hi Robyn, what essential questions to be asking ourselves. The one that stands out for me is "What remains when I let other people’s expectations fall away?" I have been a people pleaser most of my life - their opinion always held more weight than mine. It's interesting to meet who I really am once I let that go.
I love this, Robyn! I was so guilty of thinking everyone should journal gratitude, only to find out it doesn't work that way. I still think everyone should journal, but now I know that each person must find their own way. There are many ways to journal.
You've expressed something worthwhile for me here....my older friend keeps talking about ageing as involving a process of "shedding", and I think part of what she means is what you've written about here. Shedding the need for approval, achievement, accumulation, (gee good alliteration there!) and being left with one's true values.
Interesting, the 'shedding' concept. That's exactly how it felt. BTW we are wrapping up the Chinese year of the snake - all about shedding. The year of the horse next as well as a numerology year 1 - all about new beginnings. Roll on 2026. Happy holidays and thanks for checking in.
